Goal :

The main goal of this project is to prevent or reduce the teen's abnormal social behavior and return them to school and family better able to cope with the stresses of daily life.

Need :

Israel has a serious problem of youth suffering from a myriad of emotional, social and behavioral issues due to their dysfunctional and often abusive families. Often they are unable to integrate into the mainstream where schools have large classes. These students require special attention and appropriate study skills to successfully reach the level of their peer group.
In addition, study and often behavioral problems may be caused by emergency crisis at home. With proper intervention and proactive professional help, we bring these youth back from the brink.

Uniqueness :

Unlike other projects for teens at risk, this is the only project in Southern Israel that not only caters to teens at risk, but also includes their families and even incorporates community volunteers to help rehabilitate these teens. This is the result of 22 years of R&D of Ulpanat Dolev in successfully rehabilitating troubled youth.

Project description :

Everyone has the chance to succeed, given the opportunity and the relevant tools and skills. In recognition of Ulpanat Dolev's 21 years of experience with troubled teens, the Ashdod Department of Welfare requested that the organization administer and mentor the teens' crisis management center which operates for teens with substance abuse problems.
The project serves as a haven that cares and rehabilitates them through social and study activities and vocational training.
Since 2006 hundreds of teens have received individual, family and community treatment, psychosocial diagnosis and crisis intervention and have returned to their families and scholastic environment.

Vision\Mission:

Ulpanat Dolev was founded to provide a warm and accepting therapeutic environment and education for hundreds of dysfunctional girls at risk who couldn’t mainstream in formal educational institutions. In addition to the residential center for girls ages 10-19 at Ulpanat Dolev, the charity also aspires to advance at-risk needy youth (aged 6-19) in projects in Ashdod and Ashkelon. We hope to give them all a second chance to realize their potential for success and break the cycle of welfare.

  Goal :
  • Model of Normative Family: 7 Group Homes- (“Mishpachton.”) 70% of the students at the Ulpana’s residential center live with 10 troubled teens in each group home on campus and in Dolev.
  • Customized educational curriculum and myriad therapies designed and constantly evaluated for each student by holistic professional staff.
  • Interaction with the healthy and dynamic community to learn healthy, normative life and family skills

  Uniqueness :

While there are numerous institutions in Israel for at-risk teens, Ulpanat Dolev is the only residential center that integrates its students weekly by a volunteer family, providing positive role models for parenting and help develop the students’ self-esteem and trust. Ulpanat Dolev and the community of Dolev were awarded a Special Achievement Award for the rehabilitation of students by successfully integrating the girls into the community.

Ulpanat Dolev has begun a five-year pilot program under the auspices of the Ministry of Education on the subject of “family education” to advise other schools dealing with youth at risk.
