General information

Q: What is JGooders?
A: JGooders.com is a central, global, open to all Jewish-Israeli arenas of Good Doers, (aka Gooders). JGooders facilitates and broadens the opportunity to do good deeds. JGooders offers a direct, informal, objective meeting place that connects social initiators with social enablers.

Q: What is JGooders mission?
A: To build a global, accessible, vibrant, and transparent central Jewish and Israeli arena that connects needs and generosity; social initiators and social enablers, and allows everyone to Do Good.

Q: How is JGooders funded?
A: JGooders charge NPOs for posting their projects in site with a minimal fee per year enabling every NPO the opportunity to be included.

Q: Which projects are included in the JGooders site?
A: For now, we accept all Israeli NPOs that are registered by the fellowship societies%u2019 registrar (Rasham haamotot) and has certificate of good standing (Nihul Takin). US Jewish oriented NPOs who have Form 990 can also post projects on the site. Projects from other countries are posted if NPOs meet specific criteria.

Q: What is JGooders own privacy policy?
A:When you make a donation to a project through JGooders, your name, billing address, email address and credit card information are collected by one of our credit card vendors (Major card or PayPal). If you donate anonymously, we will not transfer your name to the NPO and you will not appear in the project's JGooders list. If you ask to register and be a JGooder we will keep your email address and password.


For Donors

Making Donations

Q: Why should I use the JGooders service?
A: JGooders, provides you with the ability to easily search, compare and select online a project closest to your heart and donate directly to it. In most cases, NPOs don't have a mechanism to receive online donations, and even if they do, they are rarely directed to a specific project. JGooders helps overcome this obstacle, and by that becomes your powerful tool that helps you get the most of your donations.

Q: Who can donate money?
A: Anyone in the world, who is an adult or a child with parents' consent, can donate money through the site.

Q: How can I donate?
A: Donations are currently available only via credit card or Pay Pal.

Q: Can I use any credit card to transfer my donations?
A: JGooders accepts all major international credit cards: VISA, MasterCard, Amex and Diners. In Israel and the USA you can also pay with a local credit card.

Q: Can I get tax exempt on my donations?
A: Tax exempt receipts are currently available only for US citizens.

Q: How much of my donation actually gets to the project I select?
A: JGooders transfers 99% of your donation to the project, except for the cost of the money transaction service and only 1% charge for administrative costs.

Q: How do I track my donations?
A: Once you become a member in the JGooders arena, you can easily track the history of your donations.

Q: How can I be sure that the money was used for the purpose of the donation?
A: It is up to the NPO to keep you posted about the progress of the project.

Q: How can I be sure that the presented NPO is a real NPO that stands behind what is posted?
A: JGooders is taking measurements to ensure that the NPOs are indeed what they promise, by asking them to post their certificate of good standing where available, financial reports and other information.

Q: Is there a minimum donation?
A: Every donation can make a difference. The minimum donation is $10.

Q: What are the different venues to dedicate your giving?
A: There are a few ways you can dedicate your giving:

  • In honor/ gift of someone you respect - you will choose a card and it will be sent with your greeting
  • In memory of someone dear - be on the project's virtual memorial wall %u2013 a unique feature that enables you commemorate those who passed away, and be able to invite others to view. You will be able to notify others about it and invite them to visit, add comment. This feature will be coming soon.
  • You can give personally and be on the project's JGooders list, or you can choose to give anonymously.

Participating in Networks

Q: What kind of networks exists in JGooders site?
A: There are two kinds of networks. The first one is a project's network that can be initiated only by the NPO which posted the project. The NPO also assigns network manager who has limited interfering capabilities. The second type of networks is an open informal network that can be initiated by anyone. After initiating, the initiator doesn't have any managerial capabilities regarding operation of the open network.

Q: Can anyone participate in a project's network?
A: Everyone who wants to be involved in project's network can join the project network. In order to participate you have to register and give only your email and password and become a JGooder. We encourage participating and supporting projects that interest you.

Q: Can anyone initiate a network?
A: Yes. Everyone who wants to raise an issue can initiate a network and invite others to participate.

Q: How do I initiate an open network?
A: In "Do good network" page there is an entrance button enabling a link to initiate a network form. You can do that only after registration to site.

Q: How JGooders block offensive content from JGooders networks?
A: We encourage everyone to let us know about offensive content and able to block it according to site terms of use.


Volunteering

Q: How can I find about volunteering opportunities?
A: Every project who wants to engage with volunteers fills this section in its project card. You can find volunteer opportunities of your interests by searching in the volunteer advanced search.

Q: How do I volunteer to a project?
A: After you found a project you want to volunteer to, you enter the volunteer opportunity section and fill a contact form which will get to the relevant person in charge of volunteers. You can always call the contact person of the NPO directly to find more about. You will find Contact person details in the project card.


Partnering

Q: Can every one put a partner call for a project?
A: If you wish to help a project you can fill a "Recruit a partner" form. The access to this form is through partners section in the project card. Recruit a partner will be presented in site after the NPO%u2019s approval.


Do Good Stories

Q: Can everyone post a do good story?
A: Yes. JGooders encourage anyone who has inspiring story about good deed to share it with others. We believe that good stories will influence more people to do good deeds.

Q: How do I insert my Do Good story?
A: In Do Good >Do Good story page there is a "share a story" button which leads you to insert a Do Good story form. You fill the form and submit it. After JGooders team approval the Do Good story will be available on site.

Q: Who can access my Do Good story?
A: Everyone who uses the site can access it. It is available for all JGooders.

Q: Why use JGooders.com %u2013 what is the added value?
A: you can find and choose the most suitable project for your preferences and your preferred way to support it. JGooders is a one stop address providing you with:
  • Objective independent data
  • Easy and accessible platform to see, compare and monitor progress.
  • Many venues to do good.
  • Partnership opportunities with other JGooders to leverage giving.

For NPOs

Q: Why post projects on the JGooders site?
A: JGooders is a web based initiative which opens to you the:
  • E-philanthropy viral growing market
  • It aims at the powerful, insufficiently addressed long tail of givers.
  • It's relevant to the younger generation. JGooders, the Jewish Israeli central unique web site, is a powerful one stop address in a market flooded with data and information and it comes on top to other ways you fundraise money and find supporters including if you are having your own web site.

Q: What is the added value for NPO to post projects on JGooders?
A: There are few added values for a NPO to be on JGooders site In a very modest fee you can add another exposure venue to access a new potential supporters you probably will not have access otherwise. Being on JGooders will provide you with:
  • global exposure
  • Search engine multiplies NPO's probability to find supporters %u2013 JGooders.
  • Bring in the young generation, offering opportunities to net and impact change.
  • Provide equal opportunities to all NPO's.
  • Enable NPO's to find similar NPO's around the world, exchange experience, knowhow and develop collaboration.
  • Increase shelf space for NPO's projects.
  • State of the art philanthropic tools at very low price.

Q: Does it cost to register?
A: Registration of the NPO is free of charge. You only pay if you actually post projects on site.

Q: Why do I need to register the NPO?
A: Only when your NPO is registered, you get access to the NPO's extranet console; have all the information you need about how to post project, costs and procedures. You can enter the information about your NPO and projects at your own pace and time, and only when you decide you want your projects on the site - you can pay and finish the process.

Q: How to present projects in order to get more exposure?
A: Every project has different components that most of them can be viewed as independent projects. In order to get better exposure and get to more supporters it's recommended to present each component as a project. For example: Research institute needs $5,000,000 to develop: build new class rooms ($2,000,000), renovate old facility $500,000, scholarships to students $100,000 a year, Organizing international conference, etc. Each of these components is a separate project which appeals to different donors. Posting the project as 5-6 different projects will expose it in different advanced search categories and will multiply its exposure opportunities.

Q: If a NPO wants to remove a project?
A: You can remove a project within 3 months period and get back the proportional yearly fee back or get JGooders credit for posting future project. In order to remove a project you have to send contact form to JGooders and you'll get back credit or money return as you choose.

Q: If NPO started to post projects and didn't complete the procedure, what happens to information on site?
A: The information is saved in the NPO file and nobody has access to it except the NPO itself by using its username and password. It will be available whenever the NPO is ready to complete the process. The information can be edited, changed, removed and submit only when ready to complete the process.

Q: How long does it take to get the donation?
A: We make efforts to transfer the money as soon as possible and it can take approximately a few weeks to process.

Q: Do I need to contact the donors once I received my donation?
A: JGooders strongly believes that the way to maintain a solid flow of donations relies heavily on maintaining good and constant connection with donors. We view each donation small or large as significant. Therefore JGooders sends to each donor a thank you note on behalf of JGooders and the NPO. We recommend you to update the project if needed and attach progress reports so that supporters will be able to view progress and news of the project in site.

Q: What happens when the projects' yearly membership is over?
A: JGooders will alert NPOs about upcoming renewals ahead of time, so that NPOs will have sufficient time to pay for extending the projects' posting in the site.

Q: I don't have the 501(C)3 tax exempt approval. Will this hurt my ability to raise money?
A: No. Part of our services to NPOs, is to arrange the tax exempt for them. By posting your projects through the site, you enable US citizens to donate to your project and get a tax exempt receipt.

Q: Is there a limit to the number of projects that I can post?
A: No. A NPO can post as many projects as it wishes. In addition, posting several projects may entitle you a discount that will reduce your average cost per project.
